#2 Constant Voltage or Current?
Don't shorten the life of your LED's.
LED drivers are one of the most important components in LED light signs. In this issue we've decided to talk about the most important piece of equipment that powers Lusol Lightings LED modules. Constant voltage drivers are perfect for the sign industry as it will regulate the voltage as modules are added up to the rating of the driver. So what does constant current mean to you?
Based on characteristic curves, it's very easy to over run LED's without current control. The graph above from the Lighting Research Center in New York show's that by running an LED only 0.02 Amps higher results in reduced life expectancy by over 75%! Know that all drivers are not created equal and most only provide constant voltage, luckily our Mean Well drivers have both constant voltage and constant current protection to keep your LED's running longer.
